IHAM provides free surgery to almost 100 Malawians
Islamic Health Association of Malawi IHAM and doctors from abroad have assisted 70 children and 27 Adults with free pediatric and surgery operations in Nkhota-kota and the surrounding districts.
Speaking to radio Islam after concluding the operations at Nkhotakota district hospital Secretary General for IHAM Hajj Dayton says lack of adequate number of medical experts is hindering rural people access to quality health care.
Dyton said people in rural areas are dying of curable diseases due to lack of medical experts in most health centers.
“It is of this reason that IHAM invited physicians who are experts in Urology, Endocrinology and pediatric from Saud Arabia, United Kingdom and other countries to assist people in rural area,”says Dayton
Meanwhile, he says the Association is ready to work with government and other partners regardless of religion and ethnic background in the provision of health services to Malawians.
Apart from medical treatment, the organization also provided free capacity building trainings on Basic Life Supporting techniques to 780 hospital staff, teachers, students and workers of Illovo Sugar Company in Nkhotakota.
