I Cannot Run Away-Mutharika

President Professor Mutharika has told his critics that he cannot run away from the country.

Mutharika said this during the opening of Bwanje Irrigation dam in Dedza.

The president said is not afraid of anyone therefore cannot hide in another country.

“They were saying that I am hiding in Mozambique that is a lie, they are crying and will continue crying until 2028 to 2084,” emphasised Mutharika

He then said Bwanje Irrigation dam will develop the country and demanded an end to wanton cutting down of trees in the mountain near it.

In her remarks, acting charge de affairs for European Union in Malawi said they have funded Bwanje dam construction to support rural farming families.

“To achieve water resource management there is need to maintain a balance between drinking water, irrigation water, energy production and natural conservation,” she said

In his remarks, president of the dam Timothy Kaupembe asked Mutharika to establish proper market and mill for the produce they harvest in the irrigation farming.
