Hot Debate On Cancer Vaccine
As the country is preparing to offer Human Papilloma Virus HPV vaccine to all young girls aged from 9 to 14, officials in Chikwawa district have suggested the engagement of men who are said to be carriers of the virus.
The officials who gathered for the briefing said it would have been better if there was a treatment administered to men because they are the ones who transfer the virus.
Chrissie Chimsale, the district’s education manager said “if men are left untreated the country may still have problems because there is a lot going on in the communities.”
District Community Development Officer, Spencer Kamalizeni opted for special interventions targeting men on the same.
Intelligence Officer, Smile Lifa said “men should participate in various community meetings so that they have vast knowledge of the vaccine.”
During the presentation, Chikwawa District Health Office Spokesperson, Settie Piriminta called for joint efforts for the community to be aware of the vaccine that will be rolled out in January.
District Commissioner for Chikwawa, Lusizi Nshane asked participants to seriously conduct mobilization activities that will send out positive message for the exercise.
Chikwawa Police Station Officer In charge, Assistant Commissioner, Dave Chingwalu said “responsible officers should carry out mobilization activities systematically and professionally to avoid confusion as well as remove myths that most communities hold in line with similar activities.”
