Government Hails World Bank On Disaster Resilient Infrastructures

Vice president Everton Chimulirenji has assured people who were affected by disasters that government will support them until their lives are back to normal.

Chimulirenji was speaking during the tour of Chamtulo primary school in the area of traditional authority Namkumba in Mangochi which was destroyed by floods.

Speaking to the gathering at the school he said “government appreciates efforts that developing partners like World Bank are doing in constructing resilient disaster structures in Malawi.”

Chimulirenji then distributed bags of rice to people in the area.

World Bank country manager Greg Taulmin said they decided to construct disaster resilient infrastructures in schools to help reduce school dropout due to disasters.

Taulmin said World Bank will continue helping Malawi to get rid of effects of disasters.

Chamtulo primary school was affected by floods in 2015 as well as 2017 and World Bank constructed a modern disaster resilient school block and house.
