FND Asks MESN To Clarify On Mtambo’s Signature In Elections Report
Forum for National Development FND has asked Malawi Electoral Support Network MESN to clarify on the presence of Timothy Mtambo’s signature in its elections results report.
In MESN’s report whose parallel voter tabulation closely matched official results of Malawi Electoral Commission Mtambo was one of the signatories.
However, he is leading demonstrations calling for the resignation of chairperson of the commission Justice Dr Jane Ansah because she mishandled the 21st May tripartite elections.
After noting this FND demanded resignation of Mtambo from the board of MESN but he said did not sign the report claiming his signature being electronic was used without his consent.
Responding to this the forum finds such conduct very dangerous, confusing and lacking sincerity.
In a statement FND chairperson Bright Kampaundi and national coordinator Fryson Chodzi say MESN must justify why they should trust the report.
Kampaundi and Chodzi say “the assertions and actions by Mtambo as a board member is rendering the whole report, the institution and board of MESN to be untrustworthy, devious and devoid of justice.”
Therefore, they have asked MESN to address Malawi on the truth of the matter so as to help the nation make informed opinion on the same.
