More than 100 houses in Lilongwe city have been damaged by floods.
Lilongwe city mayor Juliana Kaduya while confirming the issue with radio Islam said the affected households are currently being housed at a newly constructed school in the area.
Kaduya said they are yet to establish the number of affected people as the figures are still rising but no life has been lost.
“Together with Lilongwe city chief executive officer I am meeting different stakeholders to map the way forward on how best to assist affected people,” said Kaduya
She added that they have asked local leaders in the area to provide a place where they will erect a temporally shelter to house the people to give space to the students as schools open on Monday.
