Fire guts MTL, disrupts communication services

Malawi Communications Regulatory Authority MACRA says fire that gutted Malawi Telecommunications Limited MTL building in Lilongwe has affected communication services.

Speaking during a press briefing MACRA director general Godfrey Itaye says service providers such as TNM, Airtel, Television and Radio stations are failing to provide their services.

“It will take time for some of them especially Television and Radio stations to finish restoring their services,” Itaye says

He stressed that MACRA was investigating the accident to avoid occurrence of such incident in future.

In his remarks MTL Chief commercial officer Gladson Kuyeri said have engaged experts to find out the cause of the fire, assess the damage and recommend what should be done for the site to be reused
