Experts Ask Government to Prioritise Key Sectors in Budget
Economic Association of Malawi ECAMA has called on government to prioritize key sectors of the economy in the 2018 to 2019 budget.
ECAMA president Chikumbutso Kalilombe said this on Thursday during the pre-budget consultation meeting in Lilongwe.
Kalilombe said Malawi is still lagging behind in terms of agriculture, health, education, energy and other important sectors.
“There is need to empower ACB to end corruption in the country,” Kalilombe said
In his part executive director for Malawi Health Equity Network MHEN George Jobe said the country cannot develop if people are not healthy.
“Therefore I urge government to put much focus on heath sector by allocating 15 percent of the economy,”Jobe said.
He expressed concern over government’s failure to recruit new nurses.
