DWT, IZF Donate To Farm Inputs To Farmers

Dedza Welfare Trust DWT and Islamic Zakaat Fund IZF have distributed farm inputs worth over five million kwacha to more than 250 farmers in Machinga and Mangochi districts.

Receiving the farm inputs the farmers hailed the two Islamic organizations for providing them fertilizers, maize and legume seeds, pesticides as well as hoes in this growing season.

Speaking in an interview with Radio Islam, IZF bursary officer, Daud Pius said they thought of supporting the farmers as one way of complimenting government’s efforts of promoting food security at household level.

“The beneficiaries are vulnerable families at Chamba and Chiponde in Machinga and Mangochi districts respectively,” Pias said.

In his remarks, one of the beneficiaries thanked DWT and IZF for their gesture saying “the inputs will go a long way in making the recipient families food dependent.”

He said Muslim farmers who were identified prior to this day were grouped into 10 groups, each group comprising 15 farmers for easy identification.
