Driver Jailed of Robbery
Limbe second grade magistrate court has sentenced a driver working for Rab processors to 66 months in prison for stealing the company’s property.
According to inspector Christopher Daluni a prosecutor based at Limbe police station that a 47 year old Autrick Ikimasi was on 6th May assigned to deliver a consignment from Rab processors in Limbe to Blantyre Kulima Gold deport.
The convict loaded 120 bags of cement, 180 bags of bread flour weighing 10 kgs each and 200 bales of Top Soy all to the tune of 3.5 million kwacha.
Inspector Daluni further told the court that the convict diverted the whole truck and sold all the said items in Mulanje and disappeared with the money.
According to Daluni police investigations led to the arrest of Autrick in Ntcheu where he was lodging and recovery of 800, 500 kwacha from him and his sister in the same district.
Appearing in court he pleaded guilty to charge of theft by servant leveled against him.
In mitigation Ikimasi said he committed the offence because of small salary he gets from the company.
When passing judgment second grade magistrate George Chimombo said what the convict did has put the company at a loss since some of the cash was not recovered.
Autrick Ikimasi hails from Zuzegwangwa village TA Chakhumbira in Ntcheu district.
