DPP removes leader of opposition
Democratic Progressive Party DPP has removed leader of opposition in parliament Kondwani Nankhumwa and replaced him with Dr George Chaponda replacing
Meanwhile, Parliament has invited Chaponda to the business committee scheduled for Wednesday, 29thJune ahead of Parliament’s next seating in July.
Clerk of Parliament Fiona Kalemba, has congratulated Chaponda on his appointment saying “the meeting aims at preparing for the sixth meeting session of Parliament which will be held from Monday 8th July to 12thAugust.”
Speaking in an interview with Radio Islam, Parliament spokesperson, Ian Mwenye has confirmed the development.
The appointment of Chaponda came few days after the former leader of opposition in parliament Kondwani Nankhumwa appointed new chief whip Julius Chione and his deputy Victoria Kingston
Nankhumwa replaced Vuwa Kaunda and Lonnie Chijere Phiri
The meeting will be held as speaker of parliament was served with corruption report from ant corruption bureau
