DPP condemns Government of blocking Mutharika to cheer patients
Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) has condemned government for blocking the former President Peter Mutharika to cheer patients at Mangochi district hospital.
Reports indicated that Mutharika was scheduled to visit and cheer patients at the hospital but was barred because President Lazarus Chakwera was supposed to visit the same facility.
But in a twist of event, Chakwera did not show up as earlier announced, a development which has raised more questions.
However, DPP has expressed its concerns over the matter describing it as a political desperation.
In a statement signed by party’s Publicity Secretary, Shadreck Namalomba, said patients deserve love and support especially in the festive season.
Namalomba said this is a sad state of affairs and a reminder that leaders should always be sincere in their actions and decisions.
He said Mutharika postponed the visit out of respect of the office of the president.
