Democratic Progressive Party DPP has asked president Chakwera to resign or call for a referendum
Speaking during a press briefing some DPP senior officials and presidential aspirants said devaluation of kwacha will not help Malawians because the country does not have goods to export in order to have forex
Chairperson of the meeting Goodall Gondwe who is the former minister of finance and economy said they wait for the audit on allegations that some former government officials misreported credit to international monetary fund

In his speech one of the DPP presidential aspirants Joseph Mwanamveka said Malawi is likely to devalue again the kwacha because it is relying on imports which is dangerous to lives
Mwanamveka said people should expect more blackouts since production of power has reduced because of Aggreko contract
He asked Tonse government to do the needful to rescue Malawians from the challenges they are facing and fulfil its promises
“If tonse alliance is not careful on public expenditure, Malawi kwacha will be devalued again,” Mwanamveka
He said there is need to organize a public lecture so that Malawians understand various issues
Former Reserve Bank governor Dalitso Kabambe said tonse government does not have ideas to bring forex in the country
Bright Msaka bemoaned the tendency of arresting DPP officials though Chakwera in his campaign promised to arrest everyone regardless of their political affiliation
Msaka said it is very unfortunate that government is blaming DPP on all challenges which Malawians are facing now
