Court finds Chisale with Case to answer on fake Certificate

High Court in Lilongwe has found Norman Chisale with a case to answer on three counts in a case in which he is accused of using someone’s certificate to secure employment in Malawi Defense Force.

Judge Madalitso Khoswe Chimwaza has ruled that the evidence given in court is enough for the accused person to enter defence. Judge Chimwaza says Chisale should answer a case of using a Junior Certificate of Education (JCE) belonging to Pintius Hiwa to get recruited in MDF in 1996.

The Court has since adjourned the case to 14th March Meanwhile the Court has adjourned another case which Chisale is answering to 19th February for plea taking.

The court has since charged Chisale with two more counts to answer relating to money laundering.

Furthermore, the State is seeking to forfeit Chisale’s assets worth over K5 billion.

Chisale’s lawyer, Gilbert Khonyongwa, asked the court to grant them seven days to go through the amended charge sheet and file objections before plea taking which has been granted.

Director of Criminal Litigation, Dzikondianthu Malunda, stressed that the changes in the sheet or the adjournment will not affect progress of the case. Chisale is an aide of former president, Peter Mutharika.
