Civil Servant Withdraws From Tripartite Elections

One of government officials who joined politics to contest as a member of parliament for Neno North constituency on DPP ticket has reversed his decision after government asked him to resign.

Hebrews Misomali who works as Resource Mobilization Director at Presidential initiative for maternal health and Safe motherhood told MEC Stringer that after balancing the political situation and his employment he has chosen to withdraw until 2024.

Misomali said he was aware of the law that a person who wants to do politics must resign from civil service.

“I will support any candidate who wins DPP primaries elections which have been scheduled to take place on 23rd December in the constituency,” Misomali said.

Following his withdrawal the competition will be between MP Emmanuel Lonzo and aspirant Thoko Tembo.

The winner will compete with Osteen Gunde of Peoples Party and civil rights activist Odreck Kathamalo who has resigned from National Elections Systems Trust as programs Officer to contest on independent ticket.
