Chakwera laments Laws Violation

President Lazarus Chakwera says violation of laws is destroying this country as it is deterring development

Speaking during the pass-out parade of 985 recruit warders at Mapanga prison staff training school Chakwera has cited the land wrangle between Malawi defence force and communities in Nkhatabay where he is asked to resolve the dispute as if he is a judge

He says abiding by the law will rectify such challenge which is rampant in Malawi

The president says cabinet ministers have agreed to have a new prison services act that can be useful in this era adding that some sections of the constitution should be amended

On his part Minister of homeland security Ezekiel Ching’oma said government is finalizing the prisons bill

In his speech commissioner of Prisons Masauko Ng’ombe yagwada disclosed that 15 trainees were dismissed on unruly behaviours

He mentioned a number of challenges crippling their duties such as very old and dilapidated infrastructure, shortage of staff houses and operational vehicles, old prison law as well as overcrowding in prisons.
