CDEDI to hold nationwide solidarity march against teachers-government standoff
Centre for Democracy and Economic Development Initiative CDEDI has threatened to hold nationwide solidarity march if the current standoff between teachers and government remains unresolved by 10th march.
Executive director of CDEDI Sylvester Namiwa said this in a press release made available to Radio Islam
In an interview Namiwa said every Malawian must be concerned about the lost time that students are not getting education due to teachers’ stay away as they demand government to provide them covid 19 risk allowances.
According to him, children from poor families are denied the right to access education due to government’s adamant to give in to teachers demands.
He said teachers in Malawi have the right to demand the covid 19 risk allowance.
Namiwa has said this as Teachers Union of Malawi TUM emphasized that a stay away strike will continue though government ordered it to stop
TUM president announced the continuation of the strike after reports indicated that he signed a letter communique with government officials to end the strike
