CDEDI DEMANDS AN INQUIRY INTO JUNE 10 PLANE CRASH
Centre for Democracy and Economic Development Initiatives CDEDI has urged government to institute a commission of inquiry on plane crash
Speaking during a press briefing executive director of CDEDI Sylvester Namiwa says Malawi’s president; commander of Malawi Defense Force and Minister of information should address Malawians regarding the interim report on the plane crash because they lied to the nation when the accident occurred
Namiwa said contrary to what MACRA did during the time of the accident by setting a toll free line asking Malawians to provide information on the location of the accident scene, the report indicates that the passengers had mobile phones that had signals.
“Why did they decide to take this root of misleading the nation? Who switch off the tower close to the site? What was the motive behind the toll free line number? What happened to those phones after that”, he questioned.
Namiwa also and rejected the decision to increase fuel prices saying doing so will worsen the challenges Malawians are going through.
