Boy drowns in Machinjiri

An 8 year old child has drowned in a river in Machinjiri, Blantyre following heavy down pour on Thursday afternoon.

Limbe police publicist Singanyama has confirmed the report saying the child Stanly Chimberenga was harvesting rain water when the incident happened.

Meanwhile Singanyama says search efforts by police and communities for the boy’s body are still underway.

He has therefore advised parents and guardians to ensure safety of their children during this rainy season.

The boy hailed from Muwake village TA Nazombe in Phalombe district.
