BIU graduates students though unaccredited
Blantyre International University BIU has graduated 220 students in various courses.
This has come few days after National council for Higher Education NCHE announced that BIU is not accredited.
Commenting on this chancellor for BIU Professor Charles Chanthunya said the school is working towards re-accreditation.
“By June the university will relocate to its new campus at Michiru in Blantyre and NCHE is expected to visit the school during the third quota of the year for re-accreditation,” said Chanthunya.
He accused the media of negative reporting saying this has also affected the image of the university.
Two students have graduated with distinctions in Bachelor’s degree in Law and Counseling.
Ousman Kennedy, who is one of them, says although he has done well, the issue of accreditation has affected them since employers believe that BIU degrees are of no value.
