Supreme Court releases Mutharika’s bodyguard

Supreme Court of Appeal has unconditionally released from custody bodyguard to former president Peter Mutharika, Norman Chisale

According to Supreme Court judge Justice Chikopa the inspector general of police was detaining Chisale illegally

Chikopa therefore released Chisale without conditions saying “Chisale is already on bail granted by High court in Blantyre and magistrate court in Lilongwe.”

Commenting on this development lawyer representing Chisale Chancy Gondwe said his client is happy with the outcome as his prayer to release him from custody has been granted.

Gondwe then said his client will be waiting until the state is ready with the case.

Chisale was arrested several times on allegations of murdering former ACB employee Issa Njauju, corruption in cement procurement and shooting a woman in Blantyre.
