Court orders rerun of parliamentary elections in Mangochi West

High court has nullified parliamentary elections in Mangochi west constituency.

Judge Silvestor Kalembera who presented the judgment said there must be rerun.

“The elections which won DDP candidate Geoffrey Chiondo had irregularities,” said Kalembera

Independent candidate Simeon Harrison applied to the court after a 1 vote difference.

Harrison got 4518 while Chiondo 4517.

Meanwhile, lawyers of Malawi Congress Party MCP, president Mutharika and Malawi Electoral Commission MEC have made oral submissions in presidential elections case.

Lawyer of MCP Modecai Msisya began the submissions after counsels of UTM and Friends of Court has finished theirs on Thursday

Then lawyers of Mutharika Samuel Tembenu and Tamanda Chokotho made their submissions before Kalekeni Kaphale of MEC.
