AQSA donates farm inputs to disaster victims

AQSA has called upon Muslims and the entire citizenry to avoid residing in disaster prone areas in expectation of relief.

AQSA coordinator for Zomba Sheikh Abdu Razaq Lionde made the call as the organization distributed 300 packs of farm inputs at Mdelemani Masjid in Zomba

Sheikh Lionde said, there are some people who resist relocation from disaster prone areas because of relief they receive when disaster strikes

Commenting on the inputs Sheikh Moulana Jafar Swabun hailed the organization for the gesture

Despite hinting the need for those residing in disaster prone areas to relocate to safer places Sheikh Abdu Razak Lionde bemoaned the tendency of some people who sell farm inputs instead of using them

“The tendency of selling farm inputs is what is fueling hunger among many Malawians in the country despite efforts from government and other organizations to curb the same,” Sheikh Lionde said

On the farm inputs, the sheikh said it one way of mitigating hunger among the Sheikhs, saying it is an ideal other than waiting for responsive mechanisms

He then urged the beneficiaries to properly use the inputs and also work hard in their farms so that they harvest bumper yields by the end of the season

Appreciating the gesture Sheikh Moulana Jabar Swabuni urged fellow sheikhs and other citizenry who are benefiting from different programs that they are using them for the intended purpose

“Such programs can be very beneficial if the beneficiaries do not divert them,” said Sheikh Swabuni

He then pledged to play a monitoring role among his fellow sheikhs to make sure that the farm inputs are used saying those who may be caught selling them will be reported to authorities

The initiative by AQSA is expected to benefit 5000 people in all the three regions, and the pack contains 2kgs of Maize seeds, 10kgs of NPK and 10kgs of Urea fertilizer
