FAO Tips Malawi On Livestock Farming.
Food and Agriculture Organisation FAO has said Malawi has the potential of doing better in farming if it puts much effort in livestock farming.
This has been said by country representative of FAO Dr Zhijun Chen during official opening of inception workshop for technical cooperation program on strengthening animal diseases surveillance held in Lilongwe.
Chen said they have started this project to help Malawi’s food security since it will reduce animal disease and strengthen the capacity in animal production.
“The project will introduce some technologies which will help people especially in rural areas to know how to take care of their animals and prevent them from diseases,” said Chen
In her remarks chief director in Ministry of Agriculture, irrigation and water development Yanila Mtupanyama said government is committed to end diseases that affect livestock
Mtupanyama said they are training more veterinary doctors and providing funds to agriculture sector for Malawi to benefit from animal production
