MSCE Candidates Decline In New Curriculum

Malawi National Examinations Board MANEB says there is a decline in the number of candidates who will sit for this year’s form four exams that start tomorrow as compared to last year.

MANEB publicist Mayamiko Chiwaya says 96 thousand students will write 2019 MSCE examinations as compared to over 200 thousand in 2018.

According to Chiwaya “the decline may be a result of students being afraid to sit for the exams since it’s the first time for MANEB to administer its exams using new curriculum that government launched in 2016.”

She has then reminded the candidates to avoid cheating during exams which may lead to disqualification.

The new secondary school curriculum was rolled out by the ministry of education in the 2015/16 academic year.

Government with a K7 billion funding from African Development Bank awarded a tender to ICTC Malawi and Mallory-Maneno to supply textbooks for the new curriculum.
