Muslims Celebrate Eid-Ul-Fitr With Patients

Mai Fateemah Dawah group from Mangochi district has donated assorted food items to patients at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital (QECH) in Blantyre as part of Eid Fitr cerebrations.

Speaking to Radio Islam after handing over the foodstuffs patron of the grouping Rasheed Pemba Nsunsa commended the commitment of the members who have contributed funds for the donation.

Nsunsa who is also former Member of Parliament for Mangochi Masongola constituency, further said “the visit has organized as per teachings of Islam, which encourage Muslims to take care of patients.”

Commenting, one of the matrons at QECH applauded Mai Fateemah Dawah group for assisting the facility with foodstuffs, saying this will help them to have more food for the patients.

She further called upon other faith groupings to emulate the generosity which Mai Fateemah Dawah group has done as it has complimented government efforts in ensuring that hospitals have more foodstuffs.

In a related story, Muslim women organization MWO in Dowa has celebrated eid with patients at Dowa district hospital.

In an interview with Radio Islam Secretary of MWO in Dowa Rihana Hassan said the women thought of donating the items to the hospital because they wanted to help patients since they lack a lot of things.

“We raised 290, 000 kwacha which they used to buy soap, sugar, flour and rice among others,” Hassan said

Hassan then urged Muslims to donate the little they have to needy people in the country.

One of the guardians at the hospital Judith Chitimbe thanked MWO Dowa chapter for the items saying it will help her have food to feed her sick child for some days.

She asked other well wishers to help patients at Dowa district hospital by providing beds and expanding the hospital to avoid congestion.

In her remarks one of the nurses at the hospital Veronica Banda expressed gratitude to MWO saying “many people lack basic needs when they are in hospital so they always need help.”

She then asked Muslim women organisation to continue helping the needy in every way they can
