Malawi Police Says Producers of Hate Music Will Answer Criminal Charges

Malawi Police Service MPS has said the musician and the producer of hate music titled Mizikiti ichoke done by Andson Alfred under the name Mesho that insulted Islam will answer criminal charges.

Public relations officer superintendent James Kadadzera says the disturbing song has the potential to spark violence among religious groups in the country.

Kadadzera says MPS will not entertain such disconcerting behaviour to gain root in our peace loving country.

MPS has also warned other musicians and producers with similar ill minded intention to immediately desist from such tendencies before the long arm of the law catches up with them.

Kadzadzera says MPs condemns in strongest terms the use of hate language or any other material that has the likelihood to incite violence in the country.

It has assured Malawians that it is committed to pursuing Mesho’s case to its logical conclusion and ensure that human rights of all citizens are protected and respected in all circumstances.
