Rainstorm Destroys TA Makanjira

Heavy rains have damaged houses and school in the area of Traditional Authority Makanjira in Mangochi district.

According to deputy public relations officer for Mangochi police Amina Tepani Daud 74 houses, two classroom blocks and head teacher’s office at Namitukuta Primary school have been destroyed.

Daud said the area received rainfall accompanied by heavy storm.

“Several properties belonging to the affected families were damaged. Five people sustained minor injuries and were treated as out-patients at Makanjira health centre,” explained Daud

She further said the estimated value of the damaged properties is yet to be established as police personnel are still working on it.
