Children Parliament Against Child Exploitation
Speaker of children parliament Victoria Ganamba has said child exploitation, child marriages and harmful cultural practices remain major challenges that should be addressed for children lives to improve.
Ganamba was speaking during the third session of children parliament in Mwanza district.
She said some issues that were discussed in the past sessions have not been improved.
“We focus on child exploitation because children are being abused in many ways,” Ganamba said
Opening the session deputy Minister of gender, children, disability and social welfare Clement Mukumbwa hailed Save the Children for financially supporting the children parliament in Mwanxa and Neno districts.
Mukumbwa said the platform is giving children a chance to express their views on matters that affect their well-being.
“Government is committed to get rid of the challenges children face in the country hence formulating various policies,” Mukumbwa said
The two day children parliament is being held under the theme “children’s parliament: the platform for amplifying children’s voices.
BDonnex Bengo programs manager for child rights governance at Save the children said children’s parliament is bearing fruits as some challenges have been resolved.
