Some political parties deregistered

Some political parties in the country have been deregistered.

According to Malawi electoral commission 48 political parties have not been deregistered.

In 2017 there were over 50 political parties in Malawi

Meanwhile Malawi electoral commission says it wants to ask for a shift in the general elections date from May to September to give people more time to cast their votes.

Chairperson Jane Ansah announced the plans in her briefing to members of legal affairs committee of parliament in Lilongwe.
