Ombudsman concludes in irregularities on shortlisting of candidates for ACB Director

Office of Ombudsman says has concluded investigations into the alleged irregularities in the shortlisting for two candidates on the position of director general at the Anti-corruption Bureau.

Speaking in an interview with Radio Islam, Ombudsman spokesperson, Mandy Pondani, She says the office did not stop the appointment process of Hilary Chilomba who is now acting ACB director general and lawyer Oscar Taulo due to a complaint they received alleging acts of maladministration in the shortlisting and interviewing process.

She says the determination would be issued in due course after all procedures have been completed in compliance with applicable laws.

Pondani adds that the inquiry into the matter was conducted on 16 December 2024 during which all concerned parties made written and verbal submissions.

However, president Chakwera had re-directed that Chilomba should continue serving as acting director general of ACB until the investigations are completed.
