Police arrest man for assaulting women over rains delay
Police in Mulanje has arrested Mikeyasi Jackson aged 35 for wounding four people, damaging their property and theft for suspecting them of holding rains through magic
This happened at Chilombo, Matewere and Natawa villages in the area of Traditional Authority Juma on 2nd January 2025
The victims are Mary Jini 80, Ellen Laudon 61, Eliza Master 18 and Oliver Malikebu 30
According to the report the suspect and villagers from the mentioned villages mobilised themselves and invaded the houses belonging to the victims and started assaulting them one by one
They damaged their houses, uprooted their crops and stole different goods from the victims
Following the impact Mrs Mary Jini 80 was admitted at Mulanje district hospital while other three were treated as outpatients
