MRA HOSTS MEDIA TOUR FOR EDITORS
Malawi Revenue Authority MRA has organized a media tour for editors to appreciate tax funded projects and one stop border posts which the authority is establishing across the country.
Speaking at Marka during the beginning of the five day tour Marketing manager of MRA Wilma Chalulu said construction of the Marka Railway line is very important because will help boost revenue collection at its Nsanje Marka office.
She said the railway line which connects to Malawi from Beira in Mozambique will boost trade activities and facilitate smooth transportation of the goods necessary for development of the country.
Chalulu said along with the road that has been constructed using tax payers’ money, Marka will be an important part of trade in Malawi.
“So as MRA we are gearing up to ensure that we are ready for the traffic that is going to be coming here interms of capacity building for our staff and infrastructure that we are going to build to be ready for when the railway line will be operational”, said Chalulu
Chalulu commended the cordial relationship with communities in dealing with smuggling saying is helping in the collection of revenue at Marka.
From Nsanje the media editors will visit Liwonde MRA office, Dedza and Mchinji border posts
