Malawi Relief Fund UK donates K82M Medical Equipment to Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital
Malawi Relief Fund UK MRF has donated essential medical equipment to Eye, Noise and Throat (ENT) unit at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital.
Speaking to radio Islam after handing over the equipment, MRF chief executive officer Muhammad Mangera says the donation came after two doctors from UK had observed some challenges at the unit
Manger said the unit needed urgent assistance of the equipment in order to undertake its operations smoothly.
He says there are many patients with life threatening conditions therefore the theatre equipment and other support from the visiting consultants will hopefully save many lives.
Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital Deputy Director responsible for clinic services Shafie Mdala commended Malawi Relief Fund UK for the timely donation of ENT equipment saying it will ease the hospital’s workload as some of the machines were shared among several surgical departments.
In her remarks Squaiker Salema, principal nursing officer at ENT unit said approximately 65 people are operated on condition of ear, Nose and throat related problems per month hence the donation is very important to the unit and the hospital at large.
