Malawi launches national IDs
President Prof Arthur Peter Mutharika has said registration and issuing of national identity cards will one way help government provide social services efficiently.
Prof Mutharika said this when he officially launched that National Identity cards in Lilongwe.
“The exercise will make Malawi become a well organised society,” said Mutharika.
In their remarks UN representative to Malawi Mia Seppo and US ambassador to Malawi Virginia palmer said will support Malawi in the production and issuance of national IDs.
Seppo and Palmer said were happy that Malawi has started issuing the national IDs.
Five groups that have received the first IDs include the judiciary, MISA Malawi, national assembly and bicycle taxi operators.
