Independent Civil Society backs President for reinstating State Residences Chief of Staff

A group calling itself Independent Civil Society has backed President Chakwera for reinstating state Residences Chief of Staff, Prince Kapondamgaga.

The stand comes after several civil society organisations including legal experts faulted Dr Chakwera’s decision.

Kapondamgaga was suspended from his position for allegedly being involved in corruption saga relating to a businessman, Zuneth Sattar.

But speaking during a press briefing held in Blantyre one of the members of the grouping Caesar Kondowe, said they believe that Ant Corruption Bureau ACB acted fairly on the matter and Kapondamgaga is a free person.

Kondowe further said the President acted based on the report that ACB had submitted to him at his request.

The briefing was also flanked by a veteran human rights activist Unandi Banda and child rights advocate Caleb Ng’ombo.
