Federalism Institute asks MEC to halt 2025 elections preparations

Federalism Institute has urged Malawi Electoral Commission to halt all preparations for 2025 elections instead the country should focus on adoption of federal system of government

Speaking to reporters team leader of the institute Lusungu Mwakhwawa said the current unitary system of government has failed to deliver basic necessities but only promoted abuse of powers by all heads of state

Mwakhwawa said President Lazarus Chakwera has not responded to the proposal they submitted many months ago

He has threatened that Federalism Institute will close all borders and airports on 20^th August if government fails to respond to their proposal
