BT Mayor challenges auditors on fraud, money embezzlement

Mayor of city of Blantyre has challenged internal auditors to ensure that cases of fraud and money embezzlement are reduced in the country

Councillor Wild Ndipo made the appeal when he presided over a cocktail organised by Institute of Internal auditors Malawi IIAM held in Blantyre

The cocktail was organised to mark the end of this year’s auditing awareness month and the launch of rebranding activities of IIAM

Councillor Ndipo said cases of mismanagement of funds in public and private institutions are rampant nowadays an indication that auditors are failing their work

“The rebranding of IIAM will mark the new chapter to the profession,” Ndipo

In his remarks president of IIAM Dickson Chasambira said the rebranding will help the organisation to accommodate the pace of change

Chasambira however called on the management to provide necessary support to auditors for the benefit of the nation
