High Court to sentence convicts in Masambuka murder June 27
High Court in Blantyre will on 27th June sentence 12 people who were convicted in a case of killing a person with albinism Macdonald Masambuka in 2018 in Machinga district.
The sentencing will come after both the state and defense lawyers submitted the aggravating and mitigating arguments before the court.
Presiding judge, Judge Dorothy NyaKaunda Kamanga ordered the convicts to remain in custody.
Presenting his submission, Senior State Advocate, Pirirani Masanjala prayed for life imprisonment to all convicts as it was a well-planned act.
Among the convicts are Masambuka’s brother White, Catholic Priest Mungosha, Machinga Police officer and clinician
The convicts has mentioned famous politician Dr Hetherwick Ntaba as one of the main culprits in the case
This prompted Zomba High Court judge Zione Ntaba to recuse herself from presiding over the case because Ntaba is her uncle
Therefore Judge Ntaba transferred the case to Blantyre High Court
