Ministry of health sends suspected polio samples to South Africa
Blantyre district health Office says has sent 9 samples of suspected polio cases to South Africa for testing.
This has been disclosed during a media briefing on preparations for the phase two polio vaccine administration exercise which is expected to commence on the 25th to 28th of April 2022.
In an interview however, the District’s Health and Promotion Officer, Chrissy Banda, did not disclosed the dates for the anticipated results saying it takes time for the process to be completed.
On the exercise, Banda said the DHO hopes to surpass figures of vaccinated children in the first phase.
“Ministry of Health rectified challenges the DHO faced in the first phase including shortage of personnel,” Banda
He also said misconceptions also hindered the exercise in the first phase hence asking media to help sensitizing the public the importance of the polio vaccine.
