Supreme court vacates injunction against Nkhudzibay water project
Ministry of water and sanitation has urged contractors to resume Nkhudzibay water project after Supreme Court vacated the injunction which some civil society organizations obtained to stop the development
Speaking to journalists after the ruling, deputy minister John Bande urged civil society organisations to be settling peacefully the misunderstandings over government projects
“Government cannot be watching the communities in Mangochi failing to access safe water because of arrogant individuals,” Bande
In his remarks Member of Parliament for Mangochi Monkey bay Ralph Jooma appreciated the steps which government took to vacate the injunction and resume the project
Jooma however expressed concern with the attitude of some civil society organisations whose conduct would deprive thousands of people an opportunity to access safe and clean water
Nkhudzibay Water Project which Southern Region Water Board is implementing was put on hold following the injunction obtained by National Youth Network on Climate Change, Center for Environmental Policy and Advocacy and Movement for Action
