Please vote: says MEC chairperson
Chairperson of Malawi Electoral Commission has urged all eligible voters of tomorrow’s local government by-elections to come out in large numbers in order to put in place the right councilor.
In his message today on the polling, Justice Maxon Mbendera said they expect a maximum of 27, 272 voters.
Justice Mbendera said the polling procedures have not changed therefore nobody will be allowed to wait for results at polling stations as they are restricted areas.
“Special consideration has also been made for people with disabilities, expectant mothers, the elderly and sick people,”Mbendera said.
On counting of the votes Justice Mbendera said it will be done at the same centre where poling has taken place and the results will later be taken to ward tally centre.
He added that the commission is expected to establish the main tally centre in Blantyre where commissioners will be based to make final determination on the results.
Malawi Electoral Commission therefore anticipates announcing the results on Wednesday August, 26.
