Ex-Malawi leader encourages charity during Ramadhan
As Muslims worldwide are observing the Holy month of Ramadhan, former president Dr Bakili Muluzi has encouraged Muslims in the country to continue assisting the needy.
Speaking to Radio Islam, Dr Muluzi said since Islam is a religion of peace, Muslims should always refrain from doing evil things as one way of demonstrating unity and love among people.
“Negative perceptions which other people have about Islam would change if Muslims continue leading by example and promoting peace,” Dr Muluzi said.
He also reminded Muslims to abide by teachings of Islam such as performing five prayers a day.
Dr Muluzi said time has come to pray for the better Malawi for people to be living in peaceful country.
